Michael Lynch, M.D.

Dr. Michael Lynch received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2004. Dr. Lynch went on to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine and fellowship in Medical Toxicology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Lynch works in the Emergency Departments at UPMC Presbyterian and Mercy Hospitals. Additionally, the clinical Toxicology service at UPMC is one of the busiest in the country, seeing patients at UPMC Presbyterian, Magee, Mercy, and Shadyside Hospitals as well as Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as well as providing inpatient addiction treatment. Dr. Lynch has been the Medical Director at the Pittsburgh Poison Center since 2013 and a consulting toxicologist at the West Virginia poison center since 2009. He is the Medical Director for Substance Use Disorder Services at the UPMC Health Plan. Dr. Lynch was recognized by the DEA for outstanding contributions to DEA’s mission in 2017, awarded the 2018 Physician of the Year by the PA College of Emergency Physicians, is a member of the PA College of Emergency Physicians Board of Directors, and served on the Pain Management Best Practices Inter Agency Task Force led by the US Department of Health and Human Services in collaboration with the Departments of Defense and Veteran’s Affair.
